What Does "Lifetime Warranty" Really Mean?

Many of the manufacturers we carry offer a Limited Lifetime Warranty, such as Kohler, Delta, Crosswater, Newport Brass, California Faucets, Elkay and Blanco. Items with a lifetime warranty include quartz sinks, stainless sinks, cast iron sinks, fireclay sinks, china sinks and tubs in various materials.

One of the most important things to understand is the word “Limited” in the Lifetime Warranty. Here is an excerpt from Delta Faucet’s Limited Lifetime Warranty:

“Any labor charges incurred by the purchaser to repair, replace, install or remove this product are not covered by this warranty.”

This is generally universal in Lifetime Warranties as well as the Warranty only extending to the original purchaser of the product.

For other exceptions in the warranty, we can look to our Crosswater London products:

“Removal of flow-limiting restrictors in any product will void the warranty. This warranty is void for any damage due to misuse, abuse, neglect, accident…The use of any replacement parts other than genuine Crosswater London parts will void the warranty. This warranty is made to the original consumer purchaser in the original installation and is effective from the date of purchase…”

Another important facet is that repair parts or replacements involve direct contact with the consumer. Many vendors have eliminated companies like Falk Supply as middle men in this situation. They want to talk directly to the end user of the product. This became a big push during and following COVID.

What we can do is get you all the information you would need to have to contact the vendor of your product. We can usually provide an invoice showing date of sale and exact part number. We can also provide parts breakdowns and installation instructions. Most importantly we can help identify the next step for you to take in handling a malfunctioning item under warranty.

Typically, a vendor will send new parts direct to you. As noted above, no manufacturer covers any type of labor allowance to repair an item. If we can help eliminate some steps in the process, we will be glad to do that. It is rarer now, but in some cases, we can take out some of the speed bumps.

We also specialize in identifying older faucets and tracking down parts for them. Our showroom team has 75+ years in combined experience and we enjoy helping to find parts that will preserve a classic faucet.
